Space Codesign Systems to receive contribution through NRC-IRAP

Montreal, Quebec, Canada; March 7, 2011
Space Codesign Systems Inc., a leading edge startup in electronic system level (ESL) design technology, is proud to announce that it has signed a contribution agreement of up to $157,000, (for a global project up to $300,000) in addition to both technical and business oriented advisory services, with the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP).

"Space Codesign is grateful to the National Research Council for this award," said Guy Bois, Ph.D., CEO and President, "This financial assistance enables our startup company to install the results of recent research work from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal as well as support for new industry standards, such as TLM-2.0 and IEEE 1685 (IP-XACT), into our product platform, Space Studio. As a result of this program, Space Codesign is in the process of releasing the most advanced computer-aided design software for creating complex and sophisticated embedded computing systems, which consist of both electronic hardware and software."

About Space Codesign: Space Codesign is provider of Space Studio computer-aided design software for hardware/software codesign in ESL (Electronic System Level), enabling rapid prototyping and creation of both hardware and software for embedded systems.

Space Codesign Systems announces a new release of Space Studio integrating Catapult from Mentor Graphics to perform a complete Hw/Sw Synthesis

Often referred to as an Architect's workbench, the Space Studio Tool Suite proposes state-of-the-art features including electronic system-level design and simulation, architectural exploration, system-level partitioning and component mapping, debugging, monitoring and system generation into a single development environment.

The new release of the Space Studio Tool Suite (version 1.6) performs a Hw/Sw co-synthesis process in 3 steps:

1. Embedded Software generation done automatically by Space Studio (including the RTOS generation)
2. Hardware synthesis of user processes achieved inside Space Studio through an interface with Catapult from Mentor Graphics that transforms timed functional models into fully timed RTL models.
3. Communication synthesis done automatically by Space Studio

A chapter presenting the Space Codesign methodology in the latest book by Brian Bailey and Grant Martin

This chapter untitled "Codesign Experiences Based on a Virtual Platform" presents the Space Codesign methodology based on four main steps: system specification, exploration, analysis, and integration. All these features are illustrated through the JPEG decoder application by refining its specification from reference code to an implementation
